    Summary:

     

    Based out of Garner, NC the Operator Diamond Core Rig is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the company’s diamond core drill rigs and support vehicles during all phases of auger and core drilling. The driller will operate under the direction of the department geologists or project manager.

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Champion the Martin Marietta safety culture
    • Safely operate the company’s drill rigs, support equipment
    • Perform maintenance and repair of equipment as required
    • Document daily tasks including maintenance, operation, and drill logs
    • Load and unload equipment from support vehicles
    • Clean maintenance of all shop areas, vehicles, and other work areas
    • Inventory of all parts, tools, and equipment
    • Manage and lead his assistant driller with effective training and communication skills

    Requirements: 

    • Five years of drilling experience operating wireline core drill rigs (desired)
    • Current MSHA training a plus
    • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
    • Valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record
    • Pass a drug screen, background check, DOT physical, and back X-ray
    • Ability to travel most weeks to sites throughout the US, with occasional International travel possible. Travel is typically Monday – Friday with weekends home.  Travel time is paid at normal rate, a Per Diem is provided to cover travel expenses.
    • A company vehicle is provided for business travel
    • Reliable with good attendance history
    • Must be in good physical condition; ability to work outside in all weather conditions, able to carry heavy loads (50-75 lbs.) repeatedly during 8–10 hour work days without assistance
    • Strong mechanical skills required; previous diesel and gasoline engine mechanical skills and ability to perform repairs and maintenance duties in field or shop as directed by supervisors
    • Must possess a positive attitude and the ability to interact professionally with other employees and customers
    • Ability to skillfully operate vehicles with manual transmission
