    Responsibilities include sampling and performing routine laboratory testing of aggregate material, attention to detail, data recording, statistical analysis, and effective communication with plant and district management. 


    Essential Functions

    • Use prescribed standards to determine chemical and/or physical characteristics for quality control purposes and to determine conformity to specifications
    • Set up, adjustment and operation of laboratory equipment and instrumentations such as agitators, scales, ovens and other lab equipment as required
    • Work around industrial equipment and machinery to obtain material samples from production facilities
    • Record test results in quality control database
    • Report and communicate test results internally and externally as required
    • Clean, maintain and calibrate lab equipment
    • Inspect stockpiles for proper construction and inspect haul units for cleanliness
    • Other duties as assigned

    Work Environment

    This job operates in both a laboratory and underground or surface mine setting. This role may involve occasional operating of heavy equipment.

    Physical Demands

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

    This is a full-time position that regularly requires long hours and weekend work.
