    This position is mainly responsible for repairing and maintaining stationary machinery and mechanical equipment such as conveyor systems, shakers, gearboxes, etc.


    Essential Functions

    • Ability to troubleshoot, repair and maintain all plant equipment
    • Mechanically inclined on a wide variety of hand tools and power tools
    • Ability to weld, cut and perform fabrication
    • Ability to work in an outdoor environment and in elevated areas
    • Proactive in safety and works well in a team

    Work Environment

    This job will work in our West Des Moines shop as well as travel to our underground mines and surface quarries to help with repairs. This role occasionally operates heavy equipment.

    Physical Demands

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

    This is a full-time position that regularly requires long hours and weekend work.
