    Position Summary


    The Associate Accountant handles the billing function, for the district, and provides financial accounting, analyses and support to the District Management team. This position works to ensure accounting records are accurate and timely, providing outstanding customer support to both internal and external customers.    


    Key Responsibilities

    • Safeguard company assets
    • Perform integrity checks and work with the Sales Department to ensure accurate records of sales volumes and revenues
    • Confirm customer ticketing is accurate
    • Correct billing issues in a timely manner
    • Process and verify lien waivers
    • Reconcile and analyze customer accounts
    • Review and maintain tax exemption forms for compliance with sales tax statutes
    • Support the financial cycle closings for the district accountant, including, but not limited to, royalty analysis and payments to landowners, inventory reserve compilation and reconciliation of inventory
    • Perform standard and ad hoc analyses for management
    • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas
    • Other tasks as assigned by the supervisor


    Results and Accountabilities


    • Become an effective business partner with District management
    • Acquire strong knowledge of the business
    • Compliance with policies, procedures and internal controls
    • Stay current on sales tax changes and maintain knowledge on local compliance
    • Consistency of accounting/statutory reporting and product line reporting
    • Timely and accurate monthly reporting
    • Effective identification of business issues based on financial analyses


    Relationships with others’ Jobs


    • Peer relationships within the Division as key point of contact for financial matters
    • Interaction with Division and Corporate personnel
    • Facilitate communication between the scale operations, billing and sales departments
    • Interaction with finance personnel across company to drive improvements in processes, reporting and analyses
    • Reports to Accountant


    Minimum Education and Experience


    • 2 year Associates Degree in Accounting or equivalent experience
    • Construction materials or manufacturing industry experience a plus


    Knowledge and Skills


    • Strong ability to work independently
    • Exceptional interpersonal skills- verbal and written
    • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office
