    Position Summary:

    The Operator position supports plant operations through the operation of an off-road rigid frame haul truck.  Specific assignments may include: Hauling plant feed, hauling materials to stockpile, hauling mud to a fill area, and being cross-trained to operate other equipment such as a Water Truck, Loader , Dozer, and skid steers. This Operator could also be trained to run the aggregate processing plants as a back-up operator.



    • Prioritizes SAFETY, then QUALITY, followed by PRODUCTION.
    • Ensures a safe work environment for self and others at all times.
    • Conducts MSHA pre-shift safety inspection of equipment and work area.  Ensures proper maintenance.
    • Operates and/or drives equipment and vehicles as required.  Example responsibilities include:
      • Truck Operator (CAT 773/775)
        • Drives a water truck or off-highway haul truck on the plant premises
    • Assists with general plant and equipment maintenance/repairs
    • Trains and coaches other employees
        • Other duties as assigned by Management
      • Loader Operator
        • Operates a front-end loader (CAT 980/988/990)
        • Supplies production facility and/or stockpiles raw feed or finished products
        • Maximizes production safely out of the pit
        • Other duties as assigned by Management


    Technical Qualifications:

    • Working knowledge of heavy equipment required
    • Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record


    Required Competencies & Skills:

    • Must be safety-oriented and exhibit safe work habits at all times
    • Able to grease, fuel, and inspect equipment upon completion of task training
    • Punctual and reliable; good attendance required
    • Able to communicate safety, maintenance, and process improvement issues and ideas
    • Works well as a team player and has ability to self-start tasks once trained
    • Self-motivated and eager to learn new skills; must be willing to cross-train on other equipment


    Physical Requirements & Conditions:

    • Able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
    • Work well with your hands, able to use power and hand tools
    • Able to lift 75 pounds
    • Willing to work overtime and weekends as needed
    • Must pass pre-employment physical/drug/alcohol test and random sampling protocols


    Education and Work Experience:

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • 5+ years of experience working in a mining environment is preferred, particularly in an aggregates operation
    • For driving positions, two-years previous truck-driving experience preferred
    • Basic math, reading, and writing skills are required (English)
