    The Lead Oracle Database Administrator will manage all aspects of a multi-platform Oracle database environment.  More importantly, this role includes substantial responsibility for establishing the company’s strategic direction for the Oracle database system across the enterprise.  This includes the approach the company takes with respect to Oracle database design and administration on all Oracle platforms including Solaris, Linux, Oracle Enterprise Linux, Microsoft Windows Server, and Oracle SuperCluster 


    • When and where to use advanced Oracle configurations and utilities such as RAC, Grid, ASM, Oracle Database Vault, and Oracle Directory Services
    • The location and relocation of various Oracle database loads to provide the best database and application performance and to optimize use of system resources
    • Coordination and management of external resources from Oracle Corporation and other strategic partners when such resources are required to supplement in-house staff
    • Design of disaster recovery strategies specific to the Oracle environment and participation and database leadership during annual disaster recovery exercises
    • Performance tuning and troubleshooting, particularly when such efforts require advanced knowledge of the Oracle database environment
    • Consults and advises Systems Architecture teams on database security, relational design, query optimization, performance, and database policies and standardization
    • Participation in standard compliance tasks, with an eye towards simplification and automation of such efforts.  These could include Oracle licensing compliance in physical and virtual environments and participation in software audits
    • Standard database administration tasks in production and non-production Oracle environments including creation/decommission of database instances, schema management, database imports/exports, backups/restores, performance profiling, troubleshooting, and authorship/maintenance of stored procedures
    • Other duties as assigned


    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline preferred, or 12 years of equivalent experience.
    • At least 10 years’ experience, including with current versions of the Oracle RDBMS, as a Senior Database Administrator or above
    • Experience managing Oracle’s high availability options such as RAC, ASM, and Grid Infrastructure (Clusterware)
    • Oracle Engineered Systems experience a plus, e.g., Exadata and SuperCluster computing platforms
    • Hands-on experience with all common Oracle database management tasks and tools
    • Hands on experience with operating systems hosting the company’s Oracle installations including Linux, Oracle Enterprise Linux, Solaris, and Windows Server, and experience with the corresponding scripting tools such as shell scripting and PowerShell
    • Knowledge of Oracle Directory Services and Oracle Database Vault
    • Advanced knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL, stored procedures, triggers, and the principles of relational database design and related database constructs such as referential integrity constraints
