    Project Engineer - Construction Manager  


    This position is responsible for managing and general oversight of capital engineering projects for the Colorado Division which may include concrete ready mix plants, asphalt plants and aggregate operations.  Includes project management of design, field construction, land development, various plant improvements, new plant installations, process improvement projects, and other construction management projects in the Colorado area.  Coordinate efforts of project subcontractors and vendors to ensure projects are completed, safely, timely and within budget. 





    • Project Management - Coordinate efforts of project sub-contractors and vendors to ensure projects are completed timely and within budget.
    • Review capital project proposals to ensure proper selection and application of equipment and process technology. Assist operating personnel in evaluating new equipment and technology.
    • Oversite of land development of new sites which may include utilities, grading, foundation, road construction, surveying, building design, and geotechnical.
    • Ability to read blueprints and provide some oversight on steel fabrication and erection
    • Responsible for communicating with operations managers, senior division management, regulatory agencies and corporate managers on permits and project status.
    • Communicate changes to plan that could impact the time-line and cost of the project.
    • Technical Support - work with location manager to develop the scope of work, layouts, equipment list and installation of equipment. Oversee the work of engineering firms or general contractors.
    • Must be able to manage multiple projects in multiple areas throughout the division simultaneously, adhere to and communicate variances to approved budgets, and track completion of projects on a regular basis without losing sight of the direction of the projects within the division.
    • Safety - champion the Martin Marietta safety culture. Ensure compliance with all federal, state and Martin Marietta policies. Ensures that safety requirements are included in the design and construction of company operations.

    Minimum Education

    • Bachelors degree in, Civil or Mining, Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience required
    • Minimum of 5 years of project management experience, preferably in the construction industry


    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


    • Ability to proficiently operate AutoCad to read and develop
    • Understand project drawings and provide project oversight, erection, concrete installation and surveying skills.
    • Strong supervisory and leadership capabilities
    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
    • Strong organization and communication skills (both verbal and written)
    • Report writing and proficient computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, AutoCAD and Power Point) a must.
    • Proficient in AutoCAD
    • Some overnight travel required
    • Effective oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work flexible hours and travel overnight as needed
