    What to expect:


    This position reports to the Vice President of Infrastructure and Security and is located in Raleigh, NC. There is some (<20%) domestic travel.  The position oversees the field services organization in its charter to support, remotely and on-site, the software applications and the hardware that comprise Martin Marietta’s information services environment.  Your responsibilities will include:


    • Direct line management with all attendant responsibilities such as evaluations, training, hiring, etc. for Field Services divisional team leads (there are approximately 30 employees in the Field Services organization)
    • Identifying, implementing, and documenting measures to simplify and standardize Field Services procedures and practices across the company
    • Confirming that the Field Services organization as a whole is maximizing the advantages provided by tools in which the company has already invested, such as IT Service Management (ITSM) and remote access technologies
    • Developing clear and actionable metrics to enhance management’s understanding of Field Services efforts and to promote a culture of continuous improvement
    • Participating in annual budget exercises to ensure that capital and operational budgets will support tactical and strategic plans
    • Providing logistical support for problem resolution and management and accommodating other efforts such as merger and acquisition activity


    In a typical day, the Manager, Field Services might:


    • Manage, promote, and grow the group to support a dynamic IS departmen
    • Provide guidance, for example about performance or troubleshooting, to Field Services staff
    • Collaborate with colleagues in the network or system administration areas to coordinate multi-disciplinary efforts
    • Assist Field Services Team Leads with effort prioritization
    • Resolve a fleet management (vehicle) issue


    This job might be a good fit for you if:


    • You’ve acquired a minimum of 7 years of IT or IS management experience
    • You’re comfortable with the fundamentals of local, wide area, and wireless networking, Microsoft Windows client operating systems, and troubleshooting these and other technologies common to corporate computing environments
    • You can communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with colleagues internal and external to IT up to and including senior management
    • Your experience includes:
      • Direct line management of a diverse and/or geographically dispersed group of information services professionals
      • Network, systems, or endpoint administration in a multi-platform and enterprise-class computing environment
      • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline is a plus.
