    Position Summary

     

    The Electrical Supervisor reports to Maintenance Manager- Midlothian Cement. This person supervises electrical and instrumentation personnel in their daily jobs and oversees small construction and engineering projects. The supervisor is expected to coordinate with Production Supervisors, Maintenance Planners, Maintenance Supervisors and other plant personnel as required to maximize equipment availability.

     

     Requirements

    • Related college degree preferred or equivalent years’ experience in the mining industry.
    • Minimum of five(5) years’ experience in cement or related industry.
    • Must be able to exercise independent judgment.
    • Must have working knowledge of PLCs/SCADA operation and troubleshooting; power distribution systems (13.2kv, 4160v and 480v); industrial electrical control systems; motors, instrumentation; electrical documentation to include single line and ladder logic.
    • Knowledgeable of MSHA standards and requirements.
    • Possess excellent verbal communication skills.
    • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Excel and Outlook required
    • Knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems used in the manufacturing of cement.
    • Proficient in reading and working from electrical blueprints, schematics and manuals.
    • Interpret electrical specifications.
    • Familiarity with emission monitoring equipment and related emission control regulations.
    • Ability to work with little or no supervision.
    • Must be a team player.
    • Task and project oriented.
    • Ability to work with all levels of management.
    • Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate in the English language.
    • Ability to read and understand equipment manuals, Martin Marietta policy manuals and required government regulations.
    • Pass required physical examination and drug screens
    • Knowledge of hazards associated with areas of responsibility

    Responsibilities

    • Instruct all E&I department personnel in safe work practices on the job
    • Instruct personnel in correct ways to inspect, repair & install equipment
    • Conduct MSHA and plant safety training for all personnel
    • Inspection of plant equipment & recommendations for repair replacement or upgrade\
    • Work with Plant Engineer on all aspects of changes, upgrades or additions
    • Support Plant Engineer with people and/or equipment to perform work needed
    • Coordinate with maintenance supervisor and maintenance personnel
    • Coordinate with production supervisor and production personnel
    • Work with Assistant Plant Manager & Supervisors in plant to solve problems with equipment or process.
    • Assist in improvement of vibration analysis program for major equipment components
    • Cost effective use of contractors, spares, and materials.
    • Supervise call outs when needed
    • Work with storeroom supervisor and maintenance planners to ensure necessary parts are ordered and onsite as required for outages and projects
    • Analyze equipment breakdown to determine root cause of failure
    • Other projects or assignments as directed by Maintenance Manager
