    Summary:

     

    The Senior Technical Advisor will provide technical expertise to the Principal Technical Advisor and to other staff members throughout Information Services to address enterprise monitoring in particular but also to contribute to architecture specification, performance tuning, troubleshooting, system sizing, and scalability for all systems, technologies, and applications that Information Services supports. 

     

    Responsibilities:

     

    • Collaborate with the Principal Technical Advisor, Information Services staff, and business teams to monitor the availability and performance of the entirety of Martin Marietta's Information services infrastructure, including all:  data centers, corporate and plant services and networks, applications, and infrastructure services.  
    • Use that holistic perspective to provide input into troubleshooting efforts, including general systems/applications performance issues, particularly those of high complexity or persistence.   
    • Work with the Principal Technical Advisor to correlate events, automate monitoring, and identify trends in system availability and performance. 
    • Investigate opportunities to improve the stability, availability, and performance of any/all information services. 
    • Work with the owners and primary supporters of those technologies to ensure that monitoring thresholds, windows, and alert frequencies and methods are appropriate. 
    • Administer the company’s Configuration Management Database (CMDB), Discovery and Event Management solutions and procedures to ensure that they are current and comprehensive. 
    • Work with the Principal Technical Advisor on select projects with particularly high potential and/or broad scope such as Divestiture, Merger & Acquisition activity, IT Service Management, and general monitoring solutions.
    • Ensures all activities are performed in accordance with the Company’s Mission, Vision, and Values, and in compliance with the Company’s policies, procedures, and Code of Ethical Business Conduct

     

     

    Qualifications and Skills:

     

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Science or similar field or equivalent experience required. 
    • At least 10 years hands-on information technology experience in multiple roles including systems administration and virtualization, network administration, database administration, endpoint support, application support, and information security. 
    • Experience configuring and administering enterprise monitoring solutions such as SolarWinds and Configuration Management Databases like ServiceNow. 
    • Ability to script or code in at least one language (for example, Linux Shell, PowerShell, Python, Perl, VB Script, or JavaScript). 
    • Familiarity with ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) preferred. 
    • Knowledge of the aggregates and heavy building materials industry. 
    • Ability to communicate effectively, in technical and non-technical forums, verbally and in writing, and with staff throughout the company including management. 
    • Excellent planning, interpersonal, problem solving, and relationship management skills.
