    POSITION SUMMARY

    Under the direction of the Team Coordinator or Production Supervisor, the Control Room Operator will run and monitor plant operations from a centralized location.  This is a night shift position (typically 6pm - 6am).

     

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Start, monitor, and regulate as needed plant processing equipment in a safe and efficient manner
    • Observes/monitors control panels, computer screens, conveyor belts and stockpiles for warning lights
    • Adjust equipment programming to maximize production
    • Answer incoming calls in a professional and courteous manner and direct calls as needed
    • Maintain daily production reports. Exchange daily information with others
    • Operate mobile equipment as needed
    • Learn to safely operate mobile and plant equipment, including skid steer, front end loader, etc., if needed
    • Conduct pre-shift equipment/plant inspections and complete required paperwork accurately
    • Follow federal, state, local, and safety rules, regulations, policies & procedures
    • Maintain housekeeping in areas of responsibility
    • Other duties as requested

    MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

     

    • High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience required
    • Experience in the building materials industry preferred 

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    • Must be able to work irregular shifts, weekends, overtime and holidays as needed
    • Must possess basic mathematical aptitude to complete daily reports
    • Must be computer literate and have ability to learn new software
    • Must be able to effectively read, write and verbally communicate
    • Ability to operate radio, CB radio, computer and other equipment as required
    • Must be able to read and interpret gauges/dials and make competent decisions related to processing equipment
    • Must be able to perform duties in a safe manner
    • Must be service oriented with proven ability to work in a fast-paced TEAM environment
    • Self-starter with ability to work with little or no supervision 

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • This job requires the ability to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed boots and hearing protection
    • Must be able to climb stairs to a height of 100 ft. and work at this height
    • Must be able to work in confined spaces
    • Grip/grasp to handle tools, debris and levers; Reach to grasp objects
    • Must be able to bend, stoop, climb and reach around all areas of equipment
    • Lift up to 40 lbs
    • Must be able to walk across steep/rough terrain 

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    There will be times when outside assignments may require periods of work in all weather conditions-heat, cold, wet or dry and dusty. Must be able to work in areas where noise levels are up to 90 dbs.
