Under the supervision of the Mechanical Supervisor but working directly with the Distribution Supervisor, the primary function of the Distribution Mechanical Tech is to maintain /overhaul the plant equipment primarily in the distribution area. Address day to day plant equipment maintenance priorities with safety and improve the efficiency of the distribution loading systems.



  • Work directly with Distribution and Mechanical Supervisors
  • Align break-in work in the field to meet shipping schedules and equipment downtime
  • Make repairs in a safe timely manner and check work for accuracy and efficiency
  • Requisition parts for ongoing jobs
  • Verify parts for upcoming work with planners
  • Keep supervisors informed of any changes needed for break-ins to the daily plan
  • The Lead is a competent person for locking equipment out and racking it in to make repairs as quickly as possible while maintaining safety
  • First point of contact for the Distribution and Mechanical Supervisor for repairs needed
  • Respond to equipment failures or problems within the system and report the timeline for the repair, parts needed and scheduling the work
  • Work hands on equipment. Assist others where needed or handle smaller jobs on their own that require one Technician
  • Oversee areas of work during outages for proper repairs
  • Work with supervisor to update CPM chart during outages
  • Address the Work order gaps with supervisors and planners related to the change in the job plan for updating it
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor 



  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must have two years of college, technical school, or service training pertaining to Mechanical Maintenance



  • Must be knowledgeable in areas of pneumatics, hydraulics, chemistry, physics, and fluid dynamics
  • Work requires the ability to read and understand operating manuals, blueprints and schematics
  • Must possess good English communication skills - written and interpersonal
  • Ability and initiative to make sound decisions
  • Excellent work and safety record
  • Must be able to use proper Personal Protective Equipment as required
  • Ability to be on call 24/7 as needed
  • Vast knowledge of the plant layout, ER and MCC rooms and the equipment
  • Must be able to use hand, power tools, hydraulic jacks etc...





Physical requirements also include lifting/carrying up to 70 pounds from ground to waist as required, visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination, standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, climbing on equipment, working at heights up to 250 feet, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching, twisting, balancing, repetitive motion, driving, squatting to perform the essential functions



Works in all weather conditions including heat, cold, ice, rain and in high humidity and is required to work in all plant environments. Incumbent will be exposed to vibrating equipment and mechanical and electrical hazards.
