Position Summary

 

This position is required to collaborate with many individuals in operations. Preps and attends all Plant Safety Meetings. As needed assists in providing safety orientation training of new hires. In addition, the position is responsible for assisting with training of current employees for safety, environmental as established. Conduct facility audits for safety, MSHA and environmental compliance.  Assists operational supervisors as necessary with management and employee coaching.

 

Requirements

  • Analyze, Prioritize and actively engage with solutions of Safety issues/trends. Respond and manage activities appropriately to effectively implement Safety programs
  • Respond to complaints of safety hazards at existing job sites to address issues mentioned above
  • Assist in the administration and updating the existing safety and training programs
  • Make recommendations for changes to new hire curriculum when necessary
  • Conduct Facility Audits for compliance to MSHA and Environmental Standards
  • Attends Plant Safety Meeting to ensure content is relevant and useful
  • Assist in Incident investigations for root cause
  • Track Area incident trends and make recommendations to management to reduce exposure
  • Provide training to current workforce, ensuring that Safety standards are understood
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned

Minimum Education and Experience

  • High School degree preferred
  • Good Understanding of MSHA and Environmental Regulations

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Be able to Communicate in a professional manner across all employee and management positions
  • Good presentation skills for formal meetings. Both with hourly and management employees
  • Possess strong skills at prioritizing activities.
  • Assertive, can do and persuasive personality
  • PC literate
  • Work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to train others on the Safety Standards

Physical Requirements

 

Physical requirements include the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds from ground to waist, visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination, manual dexterity, repetitive motion, standing, sitting (must be able to sit for extended periods of time up to 8 hours), walking, climbing stairs, bending and stooping, and the ability to drive.

 

Working Conditions

 

Most time is work in all weather conditions-heat, cold, wet or dry.  May have exposure to dust, sand, gravel, diesel exhaust, etc. Periodic, overnight stay away from home.
