Position Summary


The night shift foreman is the frontline supervisor of operational activities which may include pit and/or plant production, plant maintenance, and mobile equipment, and is responsible for managing each employee’s daily goals and tasks. The foreman job expectations are as follows: 

  • Foremen will set goals for each employee and ensure those employees have the tools and training to meet those goals
  • Address and manage those employees who are not meeting their goals
  • Be able to enforce the working rules and regulations and hold employees accountable by means of disciplinary actions
  • Must have and demonstrate a personal and passionate safety culture and drive in all they do
  • Maintain a daily journal to document the events and discussions that effect each days’ safety and productivity
  • Implement change in the work place in a timely manner by using all available resources
  • The foreman will understand the metrics with which we measure success and be able to plan the work flow on a daily and weekly basis to ensure the site is successful at accomplishing its goals
  • Responsible for the training, cross training, and personal development of each crew member
  • Knowledgeable of the equipment they manage and the extraction operations
  • Maintain a Virginia Dept. of Mines Foreman’s certification, First Aid certification, and CPR certification
  • Produce a high quality and consistent product to the subsequent plant or end customer
  • Propose and implement changes and new technology on-site
  • Responsible for knowing and understanding all laws, policies, and regulations that affect our operations (MSHA, DMME, EPA, DEQ, MMM, Permits)
  • Have strong time management skills, the ability to prioritize, delegate, and manage multiple tasks
  • Must understand the preventive maintenance that must be performed to minimize unplanned downtime
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and be willing to learn in house computer systems
  • Possess oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must provide the plant manager with the previous days completed and accurate Plant Operators Report by 8AM, daily
  • Provide the office manager with completed time cards by Monday at 10AM
  • Provide the office manager with the previous days completed and accurate Mobile Production Operators Report by 8AM, daily



  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mining, Civil), Business, or equivalent experience required
  • 5+ years' experience in aggregate operations with understanding of mineral processing equipment such as crushers, screens, conveyors, and associated mobile equipment
  • Minimum 1 year supervisory experience in a mining environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Proficient on PC to include MS Office suite; Aggflow or other similar a plus
  • Experience with pit design/exploration, drilling, blasting, inventory control, inventory measures and customer service preferred
  • Ability to work flexible schedule as required; including nights and weekends
