Position Summary

 

Under the direction of the Team Coordinator or Production Supervisor, the Control Person will run and monitor plant operations from a centralized location.

 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Start, monitor, and regulate as needed plant processing equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Adjust equipment programming to maximize production
  • Generate work requests using maintenance planning program
  • Answer incoming calls in a professional and courteous manner and direct calls as needed.
  • Maintain daily production reports. Exchange daily information with others.
  • Monitor/Maintain load out area and operate mobile equipment as needed.
  • Conduct pre-shift equipment/plant inspections and complete required paperwork accurately.
  • Assist in plant operation and repairs to plant equipment.
  • Maintain housekeeping in areas of responsibility.
  • Other duties as requested.

Minimum  Education Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Experience in the building materials industry preferred.
  • Must be computer literate and have ability to learn new software.
  • Must be able to effectively read, write and verbally communicate in the English language.
  • Team oriented, able to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Self-starter with ability to work with little or no supervision.
  • Must be able to read and interpret gauges/dials and make competent decisions related to processing equipment.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to perform duties in a safe manner.  This job requires the ability to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed boots and hearing protection.
  • Must be able to climb stairs to a height of 100 ft. and work at this height.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to operate radio, CB radio, computer and other equipment as required.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, climb and reach around all areas of equipment.
  • Lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to walk across steep/rough terrain.
  • Ability to use hand tools such as shovels, wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to work in areas where noise levels are up to 90 dbs.
  • Will work in varied environments (in all weather conditions heat, cold, wet, humid, dry and/or dusty conditions).
  • Exposure to cement, clay, limestone, shale, and other raw materials and various chemicals, solvents and lubricants
