    Position Summary


    The Area Quality Control Manager will be responsible for all aspects of product quality for the ready mix facilities within their organization. The Area Quality Control Manager will also supervise all quality control technicians, provide direction to all quality related activities and will act as a professional product quality resource to all value added product organizations. In addition, the Area Quality Control Manager will oversee regular incoming, in process, and final product sampling and testing that may be required. This position also reviews specifications and ensures that products meet the engineering need on projects.


    Essential Functions

    • Actively promotes the Guardian Angel safety culture.
    • Actively promotes and supports quality culture, tests materials as needed and ensures outgoing product meets applicable requirements. Relays quality measures to local, state and corporate level.
    • Ensures compliance with ACI, ASTM and DOT requirements as well as other regulatory agencies.
    • Leads direct reports across the area to ensure quality expectations of customers are met.
    • Leads by example and practice, to promote a quality culture.
    • Understand and utilize materials for concrete in an efficient manner.
    • Fosters a relationship building environment between all levels of employees and our customers.
    • Works with all levels of employees to ensure all procedures are followed.
    • Act as primary point of contact with customers, engineering community and local authorities.
    • Ensure data entry into all needed systems is correct and up to date.
    • Manage the business using agreed upon KPI’s to ensure safety, quality, and operational efficiency.
    • Understands applicable sections of the profit and loss statement and uses that knowledge to improve profitability.


    Minimum Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required.

    • ACI Field Level 1 required.

    • 5 years ready mix experience preferred.

    • Professional Engineer License preferred.

    • Proficient with basic MS Office computer applications.
    • Knowledgeable of concrete fundamentals.

    Physical Requirements

    • Ability to climb stairs, climb ladders, reach, squat, tolerate prolonged standing/walking, balance, bend from trunk, crawl, kneel, push and pull objects.
    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. up to 10 times per day.

    • Ability to walk and stand on uneven or slippery surfaces for 8+ hours a day.

    • Ability to visually inspect concrete and/or ingredients for acceptance.

    • Ability to shovel wet concrete up to 5 times a day.

    • Ability to use vibrating tools.

    • Ability to tolerate working outdoors in all environmental temperatures and weather.

    • Ability to work in areas with the potential for high noise levels.

    • Ability to tolerate working at heights up to 9 feet.

    • Ability to operate the Company vehicle for a minimum of 8 hours per day including entering and exiting the vehicle frequently.
