Plant Manager III

Position Summary

Manages multiple ready mix plant operations. Maintains equipment and materiel to produce concrete and ensures delivery of requested products to customers. Will drive the sales of the market in the territory assigned. Responsible for the safety of plants and drivers. Reports to Area Manager with profit and loss responsibility and required reports and briefings. Will coordinate with dispatch to ensure timely distribution of concrete while maintaining customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Conducts/oversees weekly safety meetings, maintaining a consistent focus on safe behavior
  • Enforces the wearing of appropriate safety equipment in the plants at all times
  • Profit and Loss responsibility: establishing and achieving production targets and operating results.
  • Provide frequent personal contact with key customer base to maintain maximum market penetration and profitability for Martin Marietta and ensure customer satisfaction
  • Coordinates monthly plant and truck inspections
  • Responsible for overseeing plant batching to ensure efficiency of operations.
  • Manage Sales personnel, Plant Operator/Plant Supervisors and Drivers at the assigned plants in daily activities including hiring, evaluation, progressive discipline, etc.
  • Accountable for the integrity of Mixer Operators and yard personnel loads and payroll hours. The time entry system should be audited daily for accuracy.
  • Responsible for coordinating with the maintenance staff to complete preventive maintenance procedures as required.
  • Ensures the plants perform at targeted capacity at all times
  • Responsible for overall housekeeping including the plant, batch office, and driver and equipment appearance
  • Work with and develop relationships with customer base in the market area to meet their ready-mix needs while achieving annual sales goals regarding selling price, yardage and sales revenues
  • Effectively administer and communicate quotations and other sales data necessary to meet job expectations
  • Develop new customers and increase company’s market share and profitability in market area
  • Effectively communicate with operating personnel to ensure plants are meeting customer needs and that proper inventory levels, particularly key products, are sufficiently maintained
  • Work closely with administrative employees  
  • Other Duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or GED required, Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
  • 5 years’ experience with concrete and related products
  • 5 years’ supervisory experience strongly preferred
  • Possess a current driver’s license (preferably a C.D.L.)
  • Current knowledge of D.O.T., O.S.H.A., TNRCC, EPA, and other agencies regulations
  • Must be willing to gain ACI certification within one year’s time acceptance of position
  • Self-starter with desire to promote values and business principles
  • Ability to direct, teach, motivate, and coach
  • Ability to formulate decisions, makes and support recommendations, prioritize work, communicate with multiple parties and handle multiple tasks
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to facilitate positive working relationships with all levels of management and staff
  • Ability to travel overnight as needed
  • Bilingual is desired but not required
